{"id":2530,"date":"2026-06-08T05:17:32","date_gmt":"2026-06-08T05:17:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/shoonya.com\/faq\/?p=2530"},"modified":"2026-06-08T05:17:32","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T05:17:32","slug":"shoonya-mtf-client-restrictions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shoonya.com\/faq\/mtf\/shoonya-mtf-client-restrictions\/","title":{"rendered":"Why is Shoonya\u2019s Margin Trading Facility (MTF) not allowed for some clients?\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some clients are not allowed to buy stocks using Margin Trading Facility (MTF) because of the following reasons:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>DDPI not activated:\u202f<\/strong>MTF cannot be enabled if the\u202fDemat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI)\u202fis not activated for the Shoonya account.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>NSE &#8211; Equity segment not activated:\u202f<\/strong>MTF cannot be enabled if the\u202f<em>NSE &#8211; Equity\u202f<\/em>segment is deactivated in the Shoonya account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>NRI \/NRO account holder:\u202f<\/strong>NRI\/NRO account holders are prohibited from trading using MTF.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Custodian-settled clients:\u202f<\/strong>Custodian-settled clients are not allowed to buy stocks using MTF.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Minors:\u202f<\/strong>As per regulations, minors are not allowed to buy shares.
